Michelle Wong BArch UNSW, PGDipSLT

Building Designer and Allied Health Professional

Upon graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of New South Wales, Michelle worked in the Australian architecture industry for 3 years on high end contemporary residential schemes. Michelle lived in the UK from 2000 until 2023. Michelle has broad experience in both running projects and assisting teams on design and technical aspects both as a sole practictioner and with teams at a number of well known architecture practices. Projects range from small scale high end residential to large scale office block fitouts, heritage listed building alterations & concert halls.

Michelle also has extensive experience in working with children and adults living with communication and language disabilities. She undertook further studies to complete a Speech Language Therapy Post Graduate Degree, at City University London 2015. Experience includes:

  • Art and movement workshops in schools and play/special needs community centres, west and south London 2008-2010
  • Assistant on Stroke Speech and Language Therapy research - CommuniCATE Project 2013 City University, London
  • Speech and Language Therapist NHS paediatric service, Guys & St Thomas, Whittington Trusts 2015-2017

  • Michelle is a non practicing member of the Royal College Speech Language Therapists.
    As a health disabilities advocate, she has a specific interest in inclusive design practice, indoor environmental quality and healthy building design. Michelle is interested in working both at community and government policy levels to inform public health prevention practice for sustainable community living.

    Michelle enjoys yoga, sketching, painting and ocean swims

    Michelle is currently based in Victoria Australia, available to work on a freelance basis.

    EXPERIENCE:
    All phases of design and construction including: feasibility, design concept & development, planning applications, technical detail development, co-ordination for building control, tender and construction documentation, contractor liaison and review on site disability access, communication and inclusion
